Corfe Castle

Corfe is one of the mightiest and most spectacularly located castle in the South of England. Its great keep dominates the Dorset countryside. It was built by William the Conqueror and greatly improved by King John. In the English Civil war it was besieged by the Parliamentarians who were held at bay for a time by Lady Bankes.
