There are two reasons why this stunning lake in the heart of the Wicklow mountains is commonly referred to as 'The Guinness Lake'. Firstly, it's actually owned by the Guinness family and secondly, the white sand at the top of the lake resembles the froth on a pint of the popular Irish stout. In 2012, the flat area at the lake head was used for the construction of the village of Kattegatt, home of the show's hero Ragnar Lothbrok.
