À propos de Millom Castle
This small and overgrown castle can be found nearby to Holy Trinity Church. It was built by Godard De Boyville in 1134. From an advantageous marriage it waa taken over by the Huddleston family. The Huddleston were ardent Yorkist, Sir John Huddleston fought for Richard Duke of York at Blore Heath and for Richard III at Bosworth. Luckily the Huddleston were pardoned but ended up on the wrong side in the English Civil War when their castle was greatly damaged by Parliamentarian cannons. According to legend the castle is haunted by a type of hairy brownie called a Hob Thross, this helpful fairy would do household chores but when given clothes disappeared forever.
