Süntelstein, route of the Megalithic Culture 4a

Deep in the woods north of the village of Vehre is a huge monolith almost 4 m high. The Süntelstein, known far beyond the borders of the Osnabrück region, is an upright granite block that may have served cultic purposes in the younger Stone Age. IT reminds of the frequently found menhirs in Brittany. The existence of a stone wreath surrounding it and other nearby megalithic buildings is uncertain.
