Gamelands Stone Circle

A significant Neolithic stone circle. A truly isolated and lesser known monument is Gamelands which lies on a hillside nearby to Orton below Knott Scar. This circle gets forgotten because its stones were toppled in later centuries but in its days its 40 monoliths would have stood at a huge height and the circle itself is very big in diameter bring one if the largest in Cumbria, its forgotten nature makes it a very peaceful place to visit and explore. The circle c as n be found by parking on the road and walking up the fields along the dry stonewall, eventually it will be found with persevance .
