Maryport Roman Fort

Spaniards Auxilleries once garrisoned this windy and unusually square shaped Roman post to defend the Western side of Hadrians wall from being outflanked via the Solway Coast. The Fort is distinctive as ditches and vallums but their aren't many standing remains to be seen. It dies h as ve a fantastic museum though with plenty of artefacts tj expire. The museum is a private foundation and requires a few to visit.
