Sizergh Castle

A medieval to Elizabethan Hall still lived in by the ancestral Strickland family. The Stricklands married into the Deincourt family and were able to built a large and impressive Hall with solar tower. The Stricklands were a knightly family and fought for Richard III at Bosworth but managed to not be at tainted by Tudor. Catherine Parr is believed to have lived here in 1533 for a short while after her second husband baron Latimer died and before she married Henry VIII. The Hall was extended in Elizabethan times and has some beautiful wain citing and linen fold wooden interiors. The Stricklands were Catholic Jacobites and went in exile with James II.
